Mary's Meals
"I invite you to be apostles of love and goodness."
The aid organisation,Scottish International Relief (SIR), is a fruit of our community, and gives us the opportunity to reach out to some of the world's poorest people.
Mary’s Meals is SIR's campaign to set up school feeding projects in places where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.
The roots of this work can be traced back to Medjugorje and the influence it had on the founders’ lives.
It began in Malawi in 2002 by feeding several hundred orphan children attending a nursery school.
Today over 350 000 children receive a daily meal
in their place of education through Mary’s Meals.
There are projects in: Uganda, Liberia, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, Sudan, India, Philippines, Burma (Myanmar), Ukraine, Romania, Bolivia and Haiti.
THE VISION is that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things and so help create a civilisation of love and peace.
THE MISSION is to enable people to offer their money, goods, skills, time, or prayer so as to provide effective help to those suffering the effects of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest communities.
