Craig Lodge Community

Craig Lodge Community is a group of people in the heart of the Church who have decided to support each other as they respond to Our Blessed Mother’s call to holiness as given through her messages at Medjugorje.

“Today I am calling you without exception to the way of holiness in your life.” 

The Community includes single people and families.  Some of us are young people who choose to spend a year living at Craig Lodge to grow in our faith by leading a life based on prayer, service and evangelization. Some of us, single or families, live independently nearby to Craig Lodge.  We join in the prayer life as our family and work commitments allow and we share our talents and gifts to support the work of Craig Lodge

Living in community has always been recognized as a way of progressing in the spiritual life.  Like it or not other people are the pathway to the growth of virtue in each of us!  The hallmarks of our Community life are: Prayer,  Service and Evangelisation.

Prayer

“Pray, pray, pray”

 Prayer permeates our day, it is the breath of our daily life and our prayer includes: the Rosary, prayer of the Church, intercessory prayer, praise and worship and Lectio Divina.

The Eucharist

“Today I invite you all to fall in love with the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar”

 If Prayer is the breath then the Eucharist is the heart of our Community life.  Holy Mass is celebrated most days and time is set aside each day for Eucharistic adoration.

Service

”Dear Children, today my call to you is that in your life you live love towards God and neighbour”"

 We put our gifts and talents (and we all have something!) at the disposal of the whole Community.  Hospitality is one of the main ways in which we serve.  We help make our guests feel at home by welcoming them, listening to them, praying with them and sharing meals together.

Simplicity

“If you want to be very happy live a simple, humble life.”

 Our Community life embraces a simple lifestyle.   Those who commit for a year at Craig Lodge use the time to step out of the turbulence, noise and pressures of the consumerist society we live in.  We learn to find joy in the little things of life and to praise God in all things.

Evangelisation

"Pray, fast and joyfully witness your faith, little children, and may your heart always be filled with prayer. Thank you for having responded to my call. ”

The Community is also engaged in various forms of evangelization particularly amongst young people.  This may take the form of running a mission in a school, hosting youth events at Craig Lodge or performing a nativity play for the local village.

Everything we do in Community is done in honour of Our Lady Queen of Peace as we attempt to incarnate her teachings and to be her heart in the world.
