Community

“Dear Children my heart is full of grace and love. My heart is the gift I give you. Be united! Pray together! Love together!”

Craig Lodge Community is a group of people who have decided to walk the path of holiness together in response to Our Lady’s invitation at Medjugorje - to be her heart in the world.

“Today I am calling you without exception to the way of holiness in your life.”

The community includes all states and vocations - single people of all ages, consecrated and religious, families with children - all seeking holiness through community.

“Also today I call you to pray from you whole heart and to love each other. Little children, you are chosen to witness peace and joy.”

We live in, or near, Craig Lodge Family House of Prayer where we minister to those who come to stay with us. We organise retreats and often pray with our guests. Much of our time is also taken up cooking, washing dishes and making visitors feel at home - binding up wounds and healing the broken-hearted.

“If you want to be very happy live a simple, humble life. Pray a great deal ....”

Single people joining the community live together in Craig Lodge House of Prayer. They commit for one year to live a life of poverty, chastity and obedience.

“.... pray for the young people; talk with them.”

Young people are especially welcome to come and experience living community. We run a programme of youth retreats including a festival in the summer.

“Therefore dear children pray and in your prayer you shall realise a new way of joy.”

Our daily prayer - the most important part of our community life - includes prayer of the church, rosary, adoration, reading of scripture and daily Mass or Eucharistic service.

“Raise your hands, yearn for Jesus...”

We also praise the Lord in our charismatic prayer group.

“Let your families be a place where holiness is born”

The families who live in their own houses pray with their families at home but also meet often to pray with the whole community. We also have a children's prayer group.

Marie spent a year with us, she is now in Liberia teaching and helping with a farming project set up through friends of Mary's Meals over there.

This is Marie's story......

It's difficult to put into words all that I have gained through being part of the Craig Lodge House Community. It has been a year of discovery into the depths of the love and generosity of God under the guidance of Our Lady.
After attending University and working in various countries, my family was eagerly awaiting to see me launch into a career with all of its material benefits. It was with much bewilderment that friends and relatives learned that I was instead moving to a House of Prayer in Scotland where I would be washing dishes and cleaning toilets. If only they knew what wealth I have gained from being here. One of the best parts of life here has been getting a backstage pass to see the King of the Universe every day! Daily adoration has been an incredible blessing, one with which no material compensation can compare. Through it I have learned that everything has to be rooted in prayer, and that through prayer Jesus gives the peace and strength to face any situation. It has indeed been a year of ‘spiritual luxury’ as Mary Anne always tells us. I have learned so much about the faith through the many amazing speakers we have been privileged to have at our retreats and Fr. Fraser. And I can’t forget all the beautiful guests I have been blessed to meet and the friendships I have formed with them.
I have been shown that God is never outdone in generosity. He has given me the most wonderful family here that has welcomed me and lovingly accepted me just as I am despite my many faults. MaryAnne and Calum are the most amazing people I have ever come across. Thanks to them and to the whole community for showing me how to love.
My heart is breaking to have to go, but I am incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to help with SIR projects in Liberia! I will miss the Highlands, but will welcome the warm weather of West Africa. Many heartfelt thanks for the amazing generosity of friends and guests who are making this possible through generous contributions toward my airfare. God Bless You!
